Gertrude Rideaux Captain, 90, was called home Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Lake Charles, Louisiana in a local hospital. She was born November 9, 1927 in Plaisance, Louisiana to Ernest (Hun) Rideaux and Mary Louise Perry Rideaux. She; was raised by her grandparents, Charlie Rideaux. and Gladys Thierry Rideaux in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She also lived with her Great Aunt, Pauline Thierry Guillory in Grayson, Oklahoma for eight years on her farm. Gertrude attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. Later on, she married Hayward Captain and was married 45 years until his death in 1993. Gertrude attended and was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Lady Knights of Peter Claver Auxiliary, Court #141, and the Lady's Alter Society.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, the late Hayward Captain; her grandson. Travon Fontenot; two special Uncles, John Perry and Junius Rideaux; five brothers, Joseph Rideaux, John (LG.) Rideaux, Henry Rideaux. Sidney Rideaux, and Amos Rideaux; and one sister, Lou Ethel Richard.

Gertrude was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed going to Bingo and she had a pure love for her family and friends. She had a high class of Fashion. She was a Sassy Dresser with her Majestic Chapeau's of (Hats). She was known as the Hat Lady. She was one of nine ladies that started the Red Hat Society from the beginning in her area. She loved to cook and take care of family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, Gregory Wayne Captain (Annie) of Iowa, Louisiana. Michael Hayward Captain. Sr., John Anthony Captain and one daughter; Lisa Elizabeth Captain Fontenot (Ronald) all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, one adopted daughter Linda Charles Granger of Lake Charles, Louisiana. One living Godchild, Easton Charles, Jr. and eight grandchildren and twelve great grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
