Glenn Edward Johnson, 57, died on July 5, 2016, in a Alexandria Hospital.Glenn Edward Johnson, the oldest child of Mae Ruth Hagger Johnson and thelate Edward Marshall Johnson, was born on January 28, 1959 in LakeCharles, Louisiana. He grew up in Lake Charles where he attended RiversideElementary School now (Combre-Fondel), then Molo Middle School, andfinally Washington High School. Glenn experienced three (3) graduations incap and gown: New Sunlight Baptist Church Kindergarten, Washington HighSchool, and Grambling State University where he prepared himself for acareer opportunity. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree fromGrambling in 1982, he was employed in Rapides Parish in Louisiana where heremained until his death. While employed there, he was a paralegal forspecial need students. Glenn was married to Faith Hammond on July 25, 1987and to this union one son was born, Joshua Glenn Hayes Johnson in 1990.While living in Alexandria, Louisiana, he became a member of Garden ofGlory Baptist Church where the Reverend Ameal Jones is the pastor. Glennremained faithful to his church working diligently with the Sunday school,served as the bus driver, and sang in the male chorus. Glenn loved totravel and during the summer he went on vacations and spent this time withhis brothers in Milwaukee and Indiana.While still living in Alexandria,Glenn was initiated into the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated,following in the footsteps of his father and also his brother AlanMarshall Johnson. One of his cherished moments as a member of thefraternity was to have attended its 100th anniversary in the year 2011 inIndianapolis, Indiana.
Those who will cherish the legacy of their loved one are his son, JoshuaGlenn Hayes Johnson of New York; mother, Mrs. Mae Ruth Johnson; twobrothers, Donald L. Johnson (Audrey) of Milwaukee, Alan Marshall (Maritza)of Indianapolis; two sisters, Theryl Angela of Seattle and Soon JaWilliams (Ronnie) of Baton Rouge; two aunts, Dolores Willis of Chicago andGloria Dean Johnson of Lake Charles; two uncles, Noah Lewis and EdwardMcKinley, both of Lake Charles; along with a host of nieces, nephews, andmany cousins and friends in Chicago. Glenn was preceded in death bygrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Lela) Hagger; also, Mr. and Mrs.Marshall (Mary) Johnson.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: July 14, 2016
Visitation will be Thursday July 14, 2016 from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at New Emmanuel Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Thursday July 14, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at New Emmanuel Baptist Church 502 North Lyons Street, the Rev. Roland E. Mouton, Jr. officiating. The Alexandria Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will present an Omega-Omega service at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
