Gloria "Mae Mae" Lewis Smith, 86, transitioned to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at home. She was a native and life long resident of Lake Charles, La. She was a retired school teacher for Calcasieu Parish School Board. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was a past member of Easter Star Camilla Chapter 137 and charter member of Les Mes dames Civic Club Organization. She implemented noon day Prayer Band at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, past chairman of Mount Calvary Hospitality Committee, former Sunday school teacher for the primary class and Vacation Bible School. She was also former commissioner for Calcasieu Voters Registor Office. She was also a member of Washington Marion Magnet High School Band Booster. She leaves to mourn her son, Michael T. (Tricia) Smith of Lake Charles, La.; her stepson, Wayne (Jennifer) Smith of Lake Charles, La.; five grandkids, Kimberly J. Lewis, Kyndal T. Smith, Michael T. Smith, Bradford J. Smith and Xavier D. Smith; two great-grandkids, Danus A.T. Smith and Eli Smith; family pet dog, Emme; and caretaker and friend, Johnnie Kirt. She was preceded in death with her husband, the late Phillip Smith Sr.; her two sons, Tony L. Lewis and Myron Brad Lewis; stepdaughter, JoAnn Smith; and stepson, Phillip Smith Jr.; her parents; and six brothers.
