Grace J. Combre, 94, died December 19, 2016 in Los Angeles, CA. She was born in Oakdale, LA, August 20, 1922 and moved from there, in 1925 with her parents, Dr. And Mrs. T.A. (Doretha) Combre and older brother, T.A., Jr., to Lake Charles, LA where her siblings, Doris, Gwendolyn, Warren and Doretha (Poopie) were born. Grace graduated as Second Ward School's Salutatorian in 1939. After graduating from Southern University in 1943, she was a teacher and Principal at Brownsville Elementary school and a Reading Resource Specialist in Los Angeles Unified School District. Warren United Methodist Church and Vermont Square United Methodist Church were her church homes. She was a 75 year Diamond member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Grace's children,"We are all a part of her" are the late Robert Charles Combre (Cassandra), Ronald L. Reedom (Carolyn) of Las Vegas, and Peggy G. Reedom Loeb (Charles, III) of Los Angeles. Her five loving grandchildren are Robert Young of Seattle, Kelly Grace Loeb of Kansas City, MO, Ronda C. Reedom of Las Vegas, Ryan S. Reedom of Los Angeles, and Brenton C. Combre of Houston, along with three great grand children, Robyn Young and Pryce Young of Seattle and Kenneth Brass, III, of Las Vegas.

An Alpha Kappa Alpha Ivy Beyond the Wall ritual, followed by a memorial service will be held at Combre Funeral Home, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
