Gregory Joseph Chretien Sr., (Chico), was born on October 16,1956 to the late Edward Chretien and Lilly DeVille Chretien. He died surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer on Friday, October 30, 2020.
He was a graduate of W. O. Boston High School Class of 1974. He served in The United States Army in Vietnam, Frankfurt, Germany and Korea where he received an honorable discharge. Upon his discharge from the Army, he went to Sowela and received certifications in Welding and Cooking. He retired from the Calcasieu Parish School Board. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was baptized and received all his sacraments. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Edward Chretien Sr., his brother Mark Chretien Sr. and his nephew Jeremy Olivier.
He leaves to mourn his memory, his companion of 39 years Mary Frank Simonet, his children Nicole Chretien (Lake Charles) and Gregory Chretien (Lake Charles) Joshua Stanton (Arizona) and his stepchildren Trina Green (Kenneth) of (Lafayette) , Catrina Renee Simonet(Delali) of Houston,Texas and Brian Simonet (Melissa) of Lake Charles. his siblings Gwendolyn Berry (Michael) of Houston,Texas, Gwen Olivier (John), Edward Chretien Jr. (Leatrice), Jeffrey Chretien (Janine) of Lake Charles, Christopher Manyz (Anita) of Houston, Texas, Misty Long (Michael) of Chesapeake,Virginia, his aunt Mary Perrodin of Lake Charles, Louisiana and 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
