LAKE CHARLES - Harold James Winfrey, 67, died at 6:00am Sunday, June 29, 2014.

He was a native of Kinder, Louisiana and had lived in Lake Charles for many years. Harold was a Navy Veteran. After retiring from Arch Chemicals, he was currently employed as a Process Technology Instructor at Sowela Technical Community College. He was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Adult Men''s Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, Prison Ministry and Food Pantry Worker.

Survivors include four children, Juanita Winfrey of Fort Worth, Texas, Katie Winfrey of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Marshall (Ashley) Winfrey of Ragley, Louisiana and Jason (Lesley) Winfrey of Fairbanks, Alaska; three brothers, Ron Winfrey of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Hilton Winfrey and Robert Winfrey of Houston, Texas; one sister, Nancy Williams of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashley Montgomery of Fort Worth, Texas, Landon Winfrey and Lance Winfrey of Ragley, Louisiana; three nephews, Anthony Sims of Houston, Texas, Jeremy Williams of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Desmond Johnson of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Erik (Lacy) Johnson Sr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana and a host of cousins, aunts, other relatives and friends.

His funeral will be at 11:00am, Monday, July 7, 2014 in Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service. The Rev. Elmore Garner will officiate. Burial will be in Botley Cemetery in Kinder, Louisiana.
