Obituary

Celebrating the Victorious Life of Sergeant Harry J. Odom

Retired 1 st Sergeant Harry J. Odom was released from his pain and suffering on Friday, November 13, 2020 at home with his loving wife Josephine by his side, led by the Angels into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Harry was born on February 15,1933 to his parents Cora Johnson Odom and Alonzo Odom in Macon Georgia.  He enlisted in the United States Army at an early age and proudly served our country for 30 years. Sergeant Odom fought on the front lines for our freedom in the Korean War and several tours of the Vietnam War.

Sergeant Odom was a highly decorated 1 st Sergeant of the United States Army.  He accomplished and received many honors of distinction.   Those honors include "Good Conduct Awards," "The United States Army Commendation Medal," "The United States Army Bronze Star" and "The United States Army Purple Heart!"

Sergeant Odom served his country with pride and dignity, but his heart belonged to his loving wife Josephine and son Michael.  He was a man of faith and family and was highly respected in the community and across the country.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Cora Johnson Odom and Alonzo Odom; Sister Margaret Campbell (Nehemiah), Brother Theodore Johnson, and brother-in-love Pastor Joe Butts.

He leaves to cherish is memory his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Josephine Odom; son Michael W. Odom; grandson Cody Gobert; granddaughters; Chrystal Guillory (Darby) and Courtney Williams (Randy); Sisters, Betty Butts, Dorothy Kinley and Pearl Johnson of Buffalo, New York, Margaret Juanita (Willie) Williams of San Diego California; Brother-in-love, Arthur Guillory (Patricia); Sister-in-love, Rose Briggs; bonus daughter-in-love Jennifer Gobert; bonus stepson, Christopher Harmon;7 great grandchildren, Darby, Nina, Makayla, Melanie, Amiyah, Darrion, Victoria, Kholoe and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends near and far.
