Hazel Bishop, 87, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on May 12, 2016. She was born and reared in Cameron, Louisiana and later moved to Lake Charles. Hazel was a loving and giving mother, grandmother and aunt. Family was first! She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Hazel retired from St. Patrick''s Hospital after 40 years of service. She also worked at Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Department as a Crossing Guard for over 17 years. She was a member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver at St. Rita Court #31, Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of St. Peter Claver, Meritorious Ladies of Grace 4th Degree DivisionSt. Katharine Drexel Chapter 6, League of Sacred Heart Apostolicship Prayer Group, St. Joseph Society, Altar and Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Junius and Josephine (Moore) Mayne of Cameron, Louisiana; her husband, Robert Bishop, Sr.; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Mayne-LaFleur; son, Clarence West, Jr.; granddaughter, Ariana Bishop; great-grandsons, Darius Druilhet and Rodrick Bishop, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Joe (Anna Marie) Mayne of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter, Pastor Mary E. Godette-Druilhet; sons, Robert Bishop, Jr. and James Bishop of Lake Charles; niece and Godchild, Doris M. Mayne and granddaughter, Ashley Bishop. Hazel was affectionately cared for by her children, niece and Godchild, and granddaughter. Her memories will be also cherished by nieces, Debra Dozier and Mary Cockrell; best friend, Helen Bradley; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Service date: May 21, 2016

Visitation will be Saturday May 21, 2016 from 8:45 am to 9:50 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral will be Saturday May 21, 2016, at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
