Lake Charles – Henry Delores Harrison, 77, was called home at 4:40 AM, Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.  She was a native of Natchitoches, LA and lived in Lake Charles most of her life.

After over 20 years, she retired from Local 207 and immediately began working at the Salvation Army Thrift Store.  She also worked for the Calcasieu Council on Aging until her health prevented her from doing the work she loved even then she was always engaged in helping other in any way possible.

Henry Delores gave her life to Christ at an early age.  After moving to Lake Charles, she joined Old Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a member of the choir for many years.  After serving in the choir, Delores joined the Usher Board where she worked diligently and later became President.  She was also actively involved with the City Wide Ushers.  Delores was truly a soldier for Christ and was faithful in all she did.  She was kind, loving, open-armed and humble.  She loved everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Dillard Harrison, Sr., parents; Frank and Clara Brown; sister, Betty Lee Thomas; daughter Roxanne Harrison and grandson Greg Fontenot.

She leaves to cherish her memory four sons: Larry, Patrick (Sheila), Lester (Michelle) all of Lake Charles, Leslie (Cynthia) of Houston, TX; two daughters Cynthia Guillory and Lisa (Scott) Bowman both of Lake Charles; four step-children Dillard Harrison Jr., Marjorie Augusta of Houston, TX, Betty Harrison of Philadelphia, PA and Dwayne Marshall of Iowa, LA. Grandchildren Michael, Rolona, Christopher, Delisa, Melinda, Rasheem, Shyieka, Elisa, Javonta and Mahogany; sixteen great-grandchildren. one great great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Home going services will be at 11:00 am June 11, 2012.  A wake service will be held Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  Both will be held at Old Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1200 North Prater Street under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.  The Rev. M.C. Guillory will officiate.  Internment will be at the church cemetery.
