IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Horace
Stevens
April 29, 1933 – February 17, 2014
On Monday, February 17, 2014, the Almighty God in His infinite mercy, called Horace Stevens to a peaceful rest to a land that is free from sickness and pain. Born on April 29, 1933, Horace was one of six children born in Sweet Lake, Louisiana to the late Minor Stevens and Eva Tousand Stevens.
Horace lived in Chicago, Illinois most of his young life. He worked as a brick layer. He also worked as a parking lot attendant at the London House in Chicago and Magnum Chateau in Lyons, Illinois as a side job, which he enjoyed very much. He worked these two jobs for many years prior to becoming ill in 1992 after which he was moved back to Lake Charles, Louisiana to his family. He was cared for by his dedicated and loving sister, Olena Chretien for 22 years. He depended on her greatly and she made sure that he lived a happy and comfortable life.
Horace was preceded in death by his father, Minor Stevens; mother, Eva Tousand Stevens; and two brothers, Herman Stevens, Sr. and Morris Stevens.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sisters, Olevia Lubin, Olena Chretien and Doretha Guillory, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one sister-in-law, Edith Stevens and a large host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
His services will be Sunday, February 23 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Lake Charles, 3-5pm Visitation and Funeral at 1pm. Burial will be Monday, February 24 at 9 a.m. at Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
