Obituary

On Sept. 8, 2013, our Lord called Houston Kaough home.

On Aug. 10, 1925, God blessed the union of Idell and Elisha Kaough Sr., with the birth of Houston Kaough in Welsh, La. Houston would be nurtured in a loving family of seven children. Within that environment, he developed a strong sense and respect for family, hard work and faith.

As a young man, he moved to Lake Charles, La., and that would become his permanent home. Mr. Kaough met the love of his life, Cecile Esclavon, and they married in 1948. In addition, the Lord blessed their marriage with four children.

Mr. Kaough was a bricklayer by trade. He was a lifelong member of the International Union of Bricklayers Allied Craftworkers (BAC), Local 8 Southeast. He loved his work and the camaraderie that existed between his follow bricklayers and other construction workers. He enjoyed working and sharing his knowledge and skills with young bricklayers, thereby helping them master their trade. In spite of the taxing physical demands, his passion for the trade allowed him to work into his late seventies.

Houston was a faithful member of Reeves Temple CME Church. He loved the Lord, and believed that faith, prayer, and obedience to God''s word was fundamental to his ability to provide and guide his family. For those who knew him best, his devotion to and care for his loved ones will forever be etched in their hearts and minds.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cecile Kaough; parents Elisha and Idell Kaough Sr.; sisters, Irma Gray and Maudry Scretchings Lashley; and brothers, Elisha Kaough Jr., and Charles Kaough.
