On Monday, June 9, 2014 God called from the Garden of Life Irma Ann Chavis Cade. God called her above to the everlasting sanctuary prepared for them who die in the Lord, so that they can rest from their labor. Words need not be expressed to explain the emptiness that our hearts now feel at the departing of our beloved.
Born on April 22, 1943 in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Louis and Valentine Richard Chavis, Sr. Irma moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana with her family at the age of fifteen. Irma, known by her closest family as "Nanny" was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mourning her departure, yet cherishing her memories include her siblings, Mary Guillory of Port Arthur, Texas; R. James Chavis (Ruby); Louis Chavis, Jr. (Betty); Joseph Hillman Chavis (Emelida); Clayton Chavis; Vernadine Chavis; and Barbara Ringo all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Mary Louise Darjean of Beaumont, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews. Irma was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Valentine Richard Chavis, R. L. Chavis and Herman Chavis, her brothers, and her sister, Nellie Sam.
