Revelations 21:4
Our BELOVED, Irma Jeane Thomas Dunning, a life-long resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was born January 11, 1926, to her parents, the late Ezekiel Thomas and Nola Moss Thomas.
At the age of twenty-one, Mother Dunning married the love of her life, Calvin A. Dunning, on January 5, 1948. To this union seven children were born, Cheryl, Gregory, Judy, Carolyn, Mary, Janise and Bobby. She was affectionately known to her children as "Jeane."
She began her Christian journey at an early age. She was an avid reader of the books of Psalm and Proverbs and became one of the first members of Word of Hope Family Worship Center in 1997, where her son-in-law, Charlie Williams III, is pastor. Mother Dunning served faithfully as "Church Mother" until she became ill.
Mother Dunning, had a special relationship to all that closely knew her. She was a woman of few words, but when she spoke, it was with much authority and sassiness. She had a passion for nurturing young babies and is credited for babysitting numerous children with love.
In the early morning of April 3,2021, Mother Dunning was called home by her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin A. Dunning; daughter, Judy Dunning Landry; brother, Wilber L. Thomas; sisters, Ruth Folks and Larina Mae Ware.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Gregory (Althea) Dunning, Mobile AL. and Bobby (Judy) Dunning, Lafayette LA; four daughters, Cheryl Dunning, Lake Charles, Carolyn (Wilbert) Mitchell, and Mary (Jasper) Talbert, both of Moss Bluff LA, and Janise (Charlie III)Williams, Ragley LA; one brother, Nolan Thomas, Fullerton CA; 23 Grandchildren; 56 Great-Grandchildren; and one Great-Great Grandchild.
