Mr. James L. Chavis, 63, of Lake Charles went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2013 at his residence.

James was born in Columbus, Tx to Dorothy Chavis (Fred) Walker. he retired from PPG Industries in 2010. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Natasha Guillory, 1 brother Fred Walker.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Walker, 3 children, Christine Chavis, Lesslie Chavis (Robert) Mhoon and James Chavis ; one sister, Deborah Lewis and one brother, Kenneth (Marilyn) Walker Sr.; 5 grandchildren Briahna Williams, Jeremiah, Jasmine, and Jenica Mhoon and one great granddaughter Toriahna Helm.

His funeral will be at 2pm on Saturday, May 4, in New Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. Roland Mouton Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park.
