James 'Jimi 'Whitney Mitchell Jr. was born September 13, 1957, in Deridder, Louisiana to James W Mitchell Sr. and Dorothy Knotts Mitchell.
James started his post-secondary education at the University of South Carolina in Columbus South Carolina. However, after completing two years of college, he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force. James did go on to complete his
education at the University of Maryland where he obtained his Bachelor's degree.
James served his country for more than 21 years doing that time he received several awards, certificates, and accommodations. He received the Distinguished Graduate Award, the NCO Initiative Award, the Meritorious Service Medal and many more.
He was preceded in death by his father James W Mitchell Sr. and his sister Angelette Mitchell Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Dorothy Mitchell sister Cecelia Bartie and her husband Anthony niece Angelette Rodrigues nephew Christopher Taylor Mitchell aunt Margaret Beecham and Lola Wilson uncle Weldon Knighton and a host of great nieces and nephews cousins and friends.
