Obituary

James G. Pappion, 68, departed this life on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 3:03 pm in Montgomery, Alabama surrounded by his loving family. He was born a twin on June 14, 1954, to the late John B. and Annie Guillory Pappion in Lake Charles, LA.

James graduated from McNeese State University (B.S., Accounting and Auditing) where he was awarded track & field and ROTC scholarships.  He also earned a master's degree from the University of Missouri (MPA, Comptrollership).  James, a veteran of the Bosnian War, began his military career after earning his degree at MSU.  After 28 years of service in the United States Army, he retired, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

When he retired from the military, he began a very successful career in the private sector.  He worked for Lockheed Martin at NASA as a Sr. Financial Analyst and Finance Manager.  He ended his career at Network Security Systems Plus, Inc. in Fairfax, VA as Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer.

He had a passion for working and providing for his family. He often joked that "he'd rest when he died".    He also loved to golf, watch action movies, watch LSU and Saints football and go to adoration, but above all he adored his wife, daughters and granddaughter.  He was a very generous person who never hesitated to help anyone in need but especially family members.

He was raised in the Catholic church, where he served as an altar boy with his twin brother at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Lake Charles, LA.  At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, and the 3 rd and 4 th degree Knights of Peter Claver Court # 148.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Linda Marie Jordan Pappion of Montgomery, Alabama; 2 daughters, Christina Pappion of Charlotte, NC; Stephanie Pappion of Montgomery, Alabama; 1 granddaughter, Amelia Marie Thompson of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Patrick (Shirley) Pappion of Elgin, SC; two sisters, Judy (Bernard) Foy of Winston-Salem, NC and Petronilla (Jerome) Neal of Gonzales, LA; godchildren, Shelaswau Bushnell Cryer of Salem, Oregon and Jordan Graye of Denham Springs, LA and a host of brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. (Annie) Pappion; his twin brother, John (Wyndolyn – living) Pappion; and niece, Tiffany (Trevino – living) Pappion Williams.
