James Audrey Poullard passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 85.

On January 4, 1940, in Chataignier, LA, James Audrey Poullard (affectionately known as Jimmy) was born to the union of Azenor and Lonias Poullard. James had three sisters and one brother. He married his true love Bernice Thibodeaux Poullard on February 15, 1958. James and Bernice would have celebrated 67 years of marriage next month. To this union 6 children were born. James and Bernice lived in Lake Charles for over 55 years. James retired from PPG Industries in 1998 after 25 years of service. After retirement, he worked another 13 years at Christus St. Patrick Hospital as a security guard. James' work ethic was second to none. There was nothing he couldn't do...at least in the eyes of his family and friends. He was an extraordinaire cook and loved to do it. His family meant the world to him. If he wasn't cooking, working, or spending time with his family, he was manicuring his yard like only he could. James was well known in the community as a hardworking, dependable, joyful and just a wonderful person. James and Bernice were dedicated members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for over 50 years. James and Bernice were very seldom seen apart. They were everything to each other. James loved Bernice to the ends of the earth and protected her like only he could. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. And they all adored their Paw-Paw Jimmy/Grandpa. Many nieces and nephews would proclaim James as their 'favorite uncle.'

James is survived by three sons and one daughter: James Patrick (Veronica) Poullard of Iowa, LA, Gary David (Jacinta) Poullard of Weatherford, TX, Kenneth Paul (Pornthida) Poullard of Okinawa, Japan and Paula Renee' (Eric) Smith of Fulshear, TX; one sister: Helen Goodley of Kinder, LA; eight grandchildren (James, Wayne, Kevin, Allison, Brent, Matthew, Sydnee and Caleb), twelve great-grandchildren (Tatum, Logan, Colton, Devin, Gavin, Maesyn, Camden, Chasity, Chloe, Cullen, Cameron and Jace) and a host of extended family.

James was preceded in death by his parents Azenor and Lonias Poullard; brother Robert Poullard and sisters Louvella Green and Mary Rose (Aunt Dot) Fontenot; son Arnold Poullard (deceased at 3 years old) and daughter Elaine Poullard (still born).

James, Jimmy, Daddy, Paw-Paw, Grandpa, Uncle James, Mr. Poullard….you will be missed dearly. Thank you for blessing us with your presence while here on earth.
