Obituary

James Phillip Vallier, 69, passed away peacefully in a local hospital Feb. 28, 2016. Phillip was born to the late Clarence Vallier and Modest Richard Vallier in Opelousas, La., on March 21,1946. Phillip was baptized of the Catholic faith at an early age. He was a native of Beaumont, Texas, but lived in Lake Charles, La., for 49 years. He was educated at the elementary school, St. Biot Gus, graduated high school from Hebert High in Beaumont, Texas. He attended Lamar College in Beaumont, Texas, and McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. He served in the U.S. Army for six years and left the military with an honorable discharge. He met and married Maggie Copeland Vallier, and to this union there were four children. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. He was also a 20-year member of the Zulu organization in New Orleans, La. He was employed with Citgo Refinery, Vista Chemical, Louisiana Pigment, Amaretto Hess Oil (New Jersey) William''s company, TPC and Process Technical Service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but also loved to golf, watching football and tennis.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Maggie Vallier of almost 49 years; daughter, Aima Demetrius Vallier (Raymond Joseph) Mitchell of Houston, Texas; sons, Jerry James Vallier, Herbert George Vallier of Fort Worth, Texas, and Darrin Keith Vallier of Lake Charles, La.; brothers-in-law, Clearance (Angie) Copeland and Kevin Andre Carlin. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Price of Thibodeaux, La., Shirley Rideaux of Oakland, Calif.; brothers, Joseph Eric Vallier of Galveston, Texas, and Terry Vallier of Oakland, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Modest Vallier; six brothers; three sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Special thanks to St. Patrick Hospital ICU staff, Lauren, Jonni, Kevin, Tyler and Steve, Dr. Abu Shamat MD, Dr. Lodie MD, Dr. Luke Williams MD, and special thanks to respiratory manager, Donya Harmon and staff.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Service date: March 5,2016

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church with Father Marcus Johnson officiating. The viewing will be Friday, March 4, from 6-9 p.m. with a rosary at 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 5, 8-930 a.m. at Combre Funeral Home. Burial will be in Orange Grove Cemetery (Broad Street).
