Born on January 22, 1955 to Ernestine Jones and Johnny Vercher, she was a beloved daughter, sister, friend and mother who touched countless lives with her radiant smile, generous spirit and unwavering faith. From a young age, Janice had an unbreakable spirit, inspiring determination and compassionate heart that made her a light to everyone around her. She grew up in Merryville, Louisiana where she was known for her kindness, laughter, and the joy she brought to every room she entered.

Janice attended Grambling State University and Lamar University where she went for her nursing. Her dedication, work ethic and love for her profession left an indelible mark on those she worked with.

Outside of her career, Janice was deeply involved in her community and church where she dedicated much of her time to uplifting others. Friends and family often recall her contagious laughter, gentle wisdom and countless ways she showed up for others in their times of need.

Above all Janice cherished her family. She was a dedicated mother to Trygve Hodge, Trywa Childs, Taren Childs and Tyrona Childs who were the light of her life and she shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings, Mary, Josey, Althea Vercher, Franchesca Vercher and Reginald Vercher. Her family meant everything to her and her legacy of love, resilience and compassion lives on in them.

Janice leaves behind a host of family and friends, who will forever cherish her memory, including her parents Ernestine Jones and Johnny Vercher, her children, Trygve, Trywa, Taren,Tyrona. Her siblings, Mary, Althea, Franchesca and Reginald and her 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and extended family. Her Passing leaves a void in our hearts, yet we are comforted knowing her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
