Mr. J.D. Hamilton departed this life on Sept. 3, 2014, in a local hospital, surrounded by family.
Mr. J.D. (as his friends called him) was born on Sept. 6, 1929, in Claiborne Parish to the late Melvin and Ethel Hamilton. He married Ms. Carrie Lee in 1946. To this union, three boys and one girl were born. Sadly to say, their first born boy, Eddie Ray, passed away. Fifty-two years later, his sweetheart, Ms. Carrie, took her rest in the Lord.
He was preceded by the death of his parents, Melvin & Ethel Hamilton, his brother, A.D. Hamilton, and his stepmother, Alberta Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton was employed by the Long Bell Lumber Company, PPG of Lake Charles and Beauregard Parish School Board, where he served as head custodian and activity bus driver at De-Ridder Jr. High School.
Deacon Hamilton leaves to cherish his loving memories his son, Willie (Diane) Hamilton; and his daughter, Ethel (the Rev. Daniel) Stafford; his daughter-in-law, Bernadette (the late J.D. Jr.) Hamilton; his granddaughters, Dana, Pamela, Bonita, Naomi, Tia, Leah and Leslie; his grandsons, Marcus, Alfred, and Logan; his great-great-grandchildren, Shanna, Bevin, Myles Jay and Kaitlin; nieces, Joyce, Shirley, Margenette; nephews, Eddie Charles, Matthus, Earl Jr.; his godchildren, Vickie and Michael; a very special friend and cook, Sister Carrie Cross; his second family (Mt.Zion Baptist Church); his sons and daughters in Christ; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
His funeral will be Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in DeRidder La. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church. Burial will be in Starlight Baptist Church Cemetery in DeRidder, La., under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
