On October 2, 2023, Jim Reed, Jr. left his earthly home for his heavenly home.

Jim Reed, Jr. was born on November 8, 1942, to the union of Jim Reed, Sr. and Roberta West, in Grand Chenier, Louisiana. At an early age Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and savior. Jim was baptized by Elder, Ella JJ Davis.

Jim was educated at Washington High School, Lake Charles, LA. He had enormous work experience, he worked as a pipe layer, for Kansas City Southern Railroad, Baton Rouge, LA, he had great culinarian skills (Cook) for Pip boats, Cameron, LA, and as a construction worker for Vector Construction Company, Sulphur, LA.

Jim enter into matrimony with Bessie Mae Forsythe on May 23,1967 and do this union two children were born, Yolanda Reed Sanders of Baton Rouge, LA and Anthony Paul Reed of Houston, Texas.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Bessie Forsythe Reed, Baton Rouge, LA; one daughter, Yolanda Reed Sanders, Baton Rouge, LA; two son, Anthony Paul Reed (Raven) Houston, TX; and Jahili Valery, Lake Charles, LA; one sister, Irene Bellard (Kenny) Lake Charles, LA ; three brothers, Edward Reed, Gable Reed, and Curley Reed, all of Lake Charles, LA; eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Reed. Sr., three sisters, Castina Trent, Cathy Reed, and Bertha Mae Daniel, one brother, Leroy Reed, one daughter, Anna Yvette Plummer, and one son, Arthur Ray Simon.
