Jimmy Lee January was born on July 12, 1944, to the late James "Jim Black" Arthur January and Raine Mayne in Cameron, LA. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in Lake Charles, LA at the age of 79.
Jimmy dedicated over 40 years working offshore demonstrating a steadfast commitment to his profession leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry.
His passion for outdoor grilling and crawfish boils brought joy to countless gatherings where his love for family shown brightly. He was an incredible father and Pawpaw, filled with a deep and unwavering love for his children and grandkids. His dedication knew no boundaries as he constantly gave everything, he had to ensure their happiness and well-being. He held his children and grandkids close to his heart, always ready to offer a helping hand or a listening ear whenever they needed him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his unwaivering devotion to loved ones and the cherished moments shared together.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Terrence (Gail) January, Sr. of Iowa, LA, Laurette January of Lake Charles, LA, Demetri (Gary) Browe of Powder Springs, GA, and Randy January of Morocco, Africa; Grandchildren, JonNisha January, Alexander Jackson, Terrence "TJ" January, Jr., Andru January, Aaron January, Gary Browe and Nadia Browe; Great-grandchildren, Adrian Felton and Jaxon January; and one Great-great grandchild, Ja'Kai Boone; two sisters Annie (Phillip) Johnson of Bolivia, NC and Mary Jane January of Lafayette, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Johnson January; stepfather, Sherman Mayne; two sisters, Dorothy J. Major and Joyce J. Grissett and five brothers, Vallin, Martin, A.J., Leonard, and John January. Jimmy's children want to acknowledge how truly blessed their father was to have the unwavering friendship, love, and support of Greta January, John Ray Gallow, Jerry Lasalle, and Russell Valsin.
