Obituary

Brother J.L. Brown. 84 years old, transitioned on Saturday June 7, 2025 in a local hospital after a long battle with ongoing health problems. He was born to the late L.J. Brown and Cecelia Joseph Brown in Opelousas, Louisiana.

J.L. spent his childhood growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana where he experienced a serious accident cutting his educational goals short. His sister, Louethel Butler faithfully cared for him for many years from Arkansas to Louisiana with many of thus years being spent in nursing home facilities.

During his residence in the nursing home facilities J. L. became popular amongst the residence even adopting the name of "Paw Paw!" He was recently crowned the 2025 King of Mardi Gras and enjoyed every moment of his reign.

J.L. was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located near Hampton, Arkansas.

Although J.L. never married he had many nieces and nephews that he cared for as his own.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Edna Benton and Clarence Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved sister, Louethel Brown and brother-in-law, Donald Butler, a brother David Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and family members.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with his funeral following at 11:00 a.m. in Combre Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
