On Friday, November 21, 2014, John Benson Collins, departed this life.
Mr. Collins was a resident of Lake Charles, La where he worked for over 30 years at the Calcasieu Parish School Board. He was an United States Air Force Veteran. He was an active member of Omega Psi Phi Rho Chi Chapter, The Knights of St. Peter Claver, Council 141, The 100 Black Men, and a Member for Team Pride of Louisiana.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Mrs. Linda Collins, two daughters Christine and Monica Collins both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his only beloved granddaughter McKenzie LeDuff; six brothers Charles, Robert (Angenette), Marlon (Carolyn), V.I. (Allen), Tannie, and Leon Collins all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two sisters Verna (Alfred) Anderson of Lake Charles and Darlene Collins of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preced in death by his daughter Crystal Monique Collins, his father Vivion (V.I.) Collins, and mother Ezora Sams Collins.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 27, 2014 from 6-9 pm at Combre Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 28, 2014, at 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
