The Life of Our Superhero
Chapter one. John (Pedro) Delahoussaye was born on December 19, 1942 in Cade, Louisiana to the late Warren and Elizabeth Delahoussaye.
In 1947, the family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana. He attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic school for elementary and junior high. He graduated from Washington High School in 1962. He attended Grambling State University where he was a part of the football team in a fullback position. In 1964, he transferred to Southern University and A&M College. During the summer of 1965, he was employed with City Service in Lake Charles. From City Service he transferred to Conoco where he retired.
On December 23, 1967, John married the love of his life, Ina LeDeaux at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. John and Ina were married for 52 years. The couple began their new life together on Cline Street in North Lake Charles later moving to Chloe where they purchased land and built their dream home. John was a loving, kind, and gentle soul. He enjoyed tending to his animals such as horses, pigs, chickens, many other farm animals. He also enjoyed working in the garden where he grew a plethora of fruits and vegetables. John was a family man that loved spending time with his family and friends.
John Delahoussaye transitioned to his heavenly home on April 8, 2020.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Elizabeth Delahoussaye; in-laws Verdon and Iris LeDeaux; brothers Kenwood (Alberta) Delahoussaye, Dalton (Luz) Delahoussaye, Robert Delahoussaye, Joseph K. Delahoussaye, Edward Steve Delahoussaye, and Peter Wedrow (Mary) Delahoussaye; sisters Margorie (Joseph) Delahoussaye Labbe, and Mildred (Matthew) Delahoussaye St. Julien; and brother in law, Kenneth LeDeaux.
He leaves to cherish his life and memory, his beautiful wife Ina Delahoussaye; son, Kevin Delahoussaye; granddaughter, Destinee Delahoussaye; sisters, Nola (Clifford) Delahoussaye Griffith and Leona Delahoussaye Freddie; and in-laws, Mazie (Earle) Doomes, Beverly Smith, Iris Maxine LeMelle, Verdon (Patricia) LeDeaux, Maynard LeDeaux. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends that were beneficiaries of his kindness and goodness.
In this final chapter of his life, we extend our appreciation to all those who knew and loved him.
