John Merrick Singleton
October 21, 1948 – April 16, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Merrick Singleton, age 76, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, who departed this life on April 16, 2025.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Margaret Ann Singleton, for over 45 years, sharing a bond built on love, faith, and a lifetime of memories. Margaret preceded him in death, and her absence was deeply felt by John every day.

He worked for many years as a flooring installer, respected not only for his craftsmanship, but also for his integrity and dedication to a job well done. Beyond his trade, John was a farmer at heart, finding joy in working the land and caring for his animals—a true reflection of his steady and nurturing spirit.

John is survived by his loving children: John Paul Singleton, Vanessa Singleton, and Kevin Singleton. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Singleton, whose memory remained a cherished part of him. He is also survived by his two beloved grandchildren, Khorvin Williams and Abrielle Williams, who brought him immense pride and joy.

In addition, John leaves behind a host of sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, all of whom were touched by his quiet strength, generous heart, and enduring love for family.

John will be remembered for his dry wit, strong hands, and gentle soul. Whether laying a floor, feeding his animals, or sharing quiet moments with loved ones, he lived a life of purpose, humility, and deep affection for those around him.

His visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. in Combre Funeral Home with his funeral following at 11:30 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with burial in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
