John Earlis Sterling, Sr., son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather left this earth on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

John was born on August 4, 1934 in Mamou, LA to the late Gus & Francis (Victorian) Sterling. He was the sixth of seven children.

On March 2, 1957 he married Elsie Mae Savoy of Eunice, LA and their marriage lasted, 45 years, until her death on May 2, 2002. This marriage was blessed with three boys, John Jr., Cyrus, and Darryl. John loved to fish and enjoyed zydeco music, but he especially loved to dance.

John was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Francis Sterling; his brothers, Elliot Sterling, Philbert Sterling and sisters Agnes Duhon and Genevieve Perkins. John is survived by his sons John Jr., Cyrus (Sharon) and Darryl all of Lake Charles, LA; his brothers August (Theresa) Sterling and Adam Sterling both of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren Brandon Sterling and Brittany Sterling both of Houston, TX, Alexandra Paige Sterling of Lake Charles, LA; step grandchildren Donte McZeal of Beaumont, TX and Raven McZeal of Lake Charles, LA; great grandchildren Brinkley Sterling, Julian Sterling and Dwight Barker, III. Left to mourn are to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to list, who have expressed sincere concern at this time. All are reminders of how he was loved.
