John "Johnny" Viltz was born October 5, 1951 to Lila Mae Senegal Viltz and the late Austin Viltz. He departed this life on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.

John was born in Lafayette, Louisiana but spent his childhood in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He attended W.O. Boston High School. In December of 2016, he retired from W. R. Grace after 38 years of service. Known to his family and friends as Johnny, he loved to have gatherings at his house where there was lots of love, laughter, food, music and dancing.

Preceding him in death were his father, Austin Viltz; brother, Alvin "Poohchie" Viltz; sisters, Wilma Nell Joseph and Eva Dell Carter; and stepmother, Mildred Robertson.

Johnny's memories will forever be cherished by his companion, Geneva "Blackie" Aaron; his daughter, Shantel Viltz; two sons,  Mario Viltz, Sr., all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Obie (Roshawnda) Diggles of Beaumont, Texas; mother, Lila Mae Viltz; sisters, Donna Moore, Geraldine (Grayland) Boulet all of Houston, Texas; Barbara (Richard) Smith; brothers, Melvin Viltz, Ronald (Erica) Williams all of Beaumont, Texas; half-sister, Peggy Livings; and half-brothers, Boley Cormier, Floyd Cormier and Wilbert Lafleur all of Lake Charles. Ten grandchildren, Tianunna Viltz, Marion Viltz, Jr., Haley Viltz, Gerald Booker, Skylar Thomas, Jeremiah Babineaux all of Lake Charles; and Jalen Diggles, Tyrin Diggles, Caleb Diggles and Kaitlyn Diggles all of Beaumont, Texas; two great grandchildren, Zy'kia Chaisson and Promisse Booker of Lake Charles; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
