Johnnie Allen Mouton was born on October 2, 1944 to the union of John Mouton and Jeannette Lena Johnson Mouton. He transitioned peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with his devoted wife, Annie, at his bedside.

He strived to ensure that all of his students were disciplined, prepared to be productive members of society, and equipped to be able to give back to their respective communities.

Due to his reputation for helping children and the community, in 1985 Johnnie was asked to assist with the City of Lake Charles Summer Food Service Program as a part time employee during the summer. He served as a monitor, visiting all sites to ensure compliance and compiling reports. He faithfully worked every summer from 1985 to 2020 and eventually oversaw the administration of the program. The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals for children 18 years or younger or over 18 years with mental or physical handicaps during the summer months when schools are closed and the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs are not in service. During the summer, the program served over 140,000 meals at 21 sites throughout the city of Lake Charles.

Through his teaching assignment at Mossville High School, he met Annie L. Lewis, and after a beautiful courtship, they were married on July 26, 1975. Annie and Johnnie were blessed to enjoy 47 years of matrimony. To this union one son, John Van-Caldwell Mouton, was born.

It is true that Johnnie loved to uplift his fellowman, however, he also loved life. He was a charter member and past king of the Krewe de Classique. Johnnie looked forward with excitement to letting the good times roll each Mardi Gras season. Johnnie loved to travel and often took vacations with his wife, Annie, and family. He enjoyed attending sporting events, playing cards, watching television, cooking, and getting together once a month with the Molo Connection.
