IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Levy
Citizen Jr. "Sonny Boy"
April 12, 1934 – October 17, 2024
Joseph Levy Citizen, Jr. was born to Joseph Levy Citizen, Sr. and Julie Harrison Lewis on April 12, 1934, in Church Point, LA. In 1956, he married Leola Mae Judge; six children were born to that union: John, Kevin, Donald, David, Curley, and Daphine. Joseph and Leola were married for 50 years.
Joseph worked as a Laborer for Local #207 for 40 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed going to the horse races. He was a lifelong, faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a volunteer at the church, where he single-handedly stained and refinished every church pew. He coached Little League baseball for many years, kept up the grounds for the Sacred Heart Cemetery for six decades, and was an altar server well into his 80s at St. Henry Catholic Church.
Joseph left a legacy of love and beautiful memories to cherish with his children, John (Gwynda) Citizen of Lake Charles, LA; Curley (Sharon) Citizen of Austin, TX; and Daphine (Terry) Mobley of Stafford, VA; sister, Laverta DeBoest; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Levy Citizen, Sr. and Julie Harrison Lewis; wife, Leola Citizen; sons, Kevin Citizen, David Citizen, and Donald Citizen; brother, Irving Lewis; and sisters, Enola Carrier, Edolia Chachere, and Cora Dudley.
