Joseph Charles Cormier, 64, was born November 18, 1960 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Jessie Cormier and Elaine Duhon; and departed this life on April 21, 2025 in Belton, Texas.
Mr. Cormier was a graduate of Washington High School and at the age of 26 he enlisted in the United States Army. While serving his country he earned the Iraq Campaign Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and numerous other decorations. In 2006 after 20 years of honorable service, Mr. Cormier retired at rank of SGT (Sergeant). Following his military career, he resided in Killeen, Texas, where he enjoyed listening to zydeco music and watching football on the weekends.
Joseph leaves behind three loving daughters, Christie Dejean (Damon) of Lake Charles, LA, Crystal Cormier of Lake Charles, LA, and Desirrae Robinson of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, DeAsia Dejean, Khai Strobert, and Jauan Strobert Jr.; brothers, Gregory, Terrell(Joanie), Hugh(Shirley), Craig(Jeanie) and Mark; sisters, Gwendolyn Ceasar and Sadie Coleman; military friend of over 20 years RET SFC (Sergeant First Class) Walter Harris; and a host of nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Cormier and Elaine Duhon; sisters, Eve Reed and Marty Fobbs; brother, Bordier Cormier and nephew, Terrence Cormier.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 8th, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Himont Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
