Joseph E. "Jay" Austin III, 34, went to be with the Lordon Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013. He was a resident of Lake Charles, La.

Jay was a graduate of Lake Charles, Boston High School and later attended Sowela Technical Community College. He was an avid salesman for a local company. Jay was an excellent cook for his family and friends. He was a member of Cypress Big Bass Hustlers, and The American Heart Association, which he participated in the last heart walk. He became a member of Joyful Praise Ministries Church where he accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He served as a deacon to the church.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved daughter, Kaylyn Austin; his mother, Gisele Austin Braxton (George); his father, Joseph Austin Jr. (Vanessa); sister, Taura Austin; his aunt and godmother, Christiana Austin; and his grandfather, Odyall Douresseau, all of Lake Charles. His aunts, Rosalind Mitchell (Herbert), CarlettaColeman (Oliver), both of Houston, Texas, and Willetta Anderson (Don) of Pickerington, Ohio. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of cousins who loved him dearly, as well as friends and relatives.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in Joyful Praise Ministries Church, 4010 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. and service to begin at 1 p.m. Bishop L.L. Bellow to officiate. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
