Joseph James Rubit was born on October 4, 1948 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, a God-loving family man born to proud parents Lester Rubit Sr., and Dorothy Plumber Rubit.

He grew up going to Catholic Mass and always serving God in the Catholic Church.

He worked for many years in Lake Charles for Halliburton Offshore and served in the United States Army for 8 1/2 years,

Joseph is survived by his loving devoted wife Carolyn Belton Rubit of 51 years of marriage, two sisters Juanita Rubit Jacob, and Laura Ann Pubitahmed of San Jose, California, three brothers Lester Rubit Jr. of Lake Charles, La., Paul Guidry of Lake Charles, La., and predeceased Donald Rubit of Alexandria, La.
