Josephine Nixon Clark, 84, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed awayOctober 5, 2015, surrounded by family in Dallas, Texas.

Josephine was born June 18, 1931 in Nisbett, Louisiana to the late Israel and Joanna Nixon. She later moved to Lake Charles, LA and attended W.O. Boston High School. She is preceded in death by her parents Israel and Joanna Nixon, her husband Wilmer Clark Sr., two brothers Richard and Jacob Nixon, three sisters Lorena Evans, Mary E. Reed, and Francis Ceasar, daughter Stephanie "Rae" Clark, and son Wilmer Clark Jr.

Her career began in hospitality services at Howard Johnson Hotel where she served for over 30 years. She later worked for Christus St. Patrick Hospital where she retired after committing 17 years of service. Refusing to be still, Josephine kept busy with a part-time position at United Way. After a second retirement, she dedicated her time at home with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She''s often characterized as sweet, loving and caring to anyone whom she came in contact with. Josephine is a long-term member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

To continue her legacy, she leaves behind her son, Ted Nixon of San Jose, California, four daughters Carolyn Clark-Balka, Leslie Clark-Miller of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Claudia Nixon of Fresno, California, and Shawn Thierry-Davis of Dallas, Texas.

Grandchildren: Michael Clark, Tamara Clark, Lashon Miller, Tyrone Miller, NeKeydria Thomas-Anderson, Leland Thomas of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Charisma Miller, Terry Thierry of Houston, Texas, Jason Geans of Lafayette, Louisiana, Kinte Robinson, Larry Snell Jr., Nkosinathi Richardson of Fresno, California, Teddra Nixon of Los Angeles, California, and Xavier Terrell of Dallas, Texas.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Service date: October 10, 2015

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Reverend Braylon Harris will officiate. Burial in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday, October 9th in Combre Funeral Home.
