Josephine White was born in Leonville, LA to the late Joseph and Regina (Vallien) White on October 13, 1927. She originally lived in Opelousas, LA then moved to Lake Charles, LA where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was a retired Cosmetologist and Seamstress. She loved doing arts and crafts, especially making ceramic pieces.
Madee, as she was fondly called by many, was a loving and unselfish Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She touched the hearts of many with her goodness and kindness, that they proudly referred to her as their "adopted Mother".
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Joseph P. West (Rose) of Lake Charles, LA, Leroy P. West (Phyllis) of Compton, CA, three daughters; Sheryl "Marie" Brignac (Larry), Jeanie Johnson (Herb) and Cinda "Teannie" Griffin (Curtis), all of Lake Charles, LA. She leaves 16 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memories; her brother Joseph White, Jr. (Estell) of Riverside, CA, sisters Edna Mae Carrier of Opelousas, LA, Mary Lillian Fontenot of Port Arthur, TX and Rita Rideaux (Martin) of Baton Rouge, LA.
She was preceded in death by her father Joseph White, Sr., mother Regina (Vallien) White, brother Willie White, sister-in-law Loretta White, brother-in-laws Joseph "Elmer" Carrier, Alvin Fontenot, Sr. and daughter-in-law Rosa Lee West.
