Joyce Marie Syon Duhon was born in Lake Charles, LA, on December 2, 1940.  She grew up and attended school in Lake Charles, where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School.

Joyce was a long-time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She was very active in her church and community, volunteering wherever needed.

She moved to California, where she met and married her soul mate, Burley John Syon Sr. Three (3) children were born of that marriage: Burley John   Syon Jr., Darryl Anthony Syon Sr, and Troy Joseph Syon Sr.

After 10 years, she moved back to Lake Charles, LA.  She then remarried Wille R. Duhon. No children were born of this marriage.

She loved Mardi Gras parades and Mardi Gras Balls, bowling, sewing, having garage sales, and traveling to Texas. Most of all…cooking and hosting family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands, Burley John Syon, Sr., and Willie R. Duhon and her parents.

Her life will be remembered and cherished by her sons, Burley John, Sr., and Darryl Anthony Syon, Sr., both of Lake Charles, LA, and Troy Joseph Syon, Sr. of Graham, TX. Sister, Emelda Pluitt of Houston, TX; Ten grandsons and one granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Her visitation will be Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. followed by her funeral at 1:00 P.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
