IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Theresa
Coleman
October 6, 1938 – June 4, 2025
Julia Theresa Dejean Coleman, 86, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Julia was born to John and Alvie Dejean on October 6, 1938 in Cankton, LA.
She was a light in every room she entered and everyone enjoyed her presence and hospitality. Julia was raised with her seven siblings in a loving home that built the foundation for her future family. Julia always talked about having a happy childhood and how much she enjoyed working as a certified nurse aide for 25 years. She loved telling the story when someone had to escort her by boat to take care of one of her patients! Julia was also a beloved crossing guard for Combre Elementary and the students loved seeing her. She and her husband, James Coleman, raised their four children to be hard workers and respectful people, which was a reflection of their true character. She was a long-time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church and looked forward to receiving her Communion at home in her later years. Julia and James also assisted in forming the Church of New Beginning with some of her dear family members. She took pride in her roles of daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Her door was ALWAYS open and anyone that entered never wanted to leave!
Throughout her life, Julia enjoyed cooking (her famous pistolettes), playing bingo, cards, dominoes, dancing; but mostly spending quality time with her family and close friends! She was always ready for a game of cards and would affectionately say "Put your money on the table!". Julia was a social butterfly and enjoyed traveling to various casinos and even belonged to a social club (Women of Today) in her younger days! Her sassy and nurturing personality provided so many memories in her loved one's lives that will always be cherished.
Julia was preceded in death by her dear parents, John and Alvie, loving husband, James Coleman, her siblings, Evelda, Leona, Freddie, Howard, Charles, and Aldon, and her great grandchildren Keturah and Jeremiah.
Her legacy of love and togetherness will live on through her daughters, Robbie Henry, Cynthia (Harold) Stewart, Horace (Candance) Henry, Penny (James) Coleman, her sister, Sophie Dejean, her grandchildren, Katrina (Shannon Decd), Nicholl, Randy, Emmanuel Paul (Cherie), James (Nicole), Keith (Elizabeth), Kristy, Kevin (Raven), Karl (Brandi), Courtney, Maurice (Patricia), Marcus (Valerie), Melissa, Maygan, 24 GREAT grandchildren, 10 GREAT GREAT grandchildren, her Godchildren Hollin Chretien and Sophie Finney, and a host of her dear family and friends.
