Obituary

Junius Augustine , aka: T-Bae, leaves a legacy of love; showing faith, trust, and belief in God. He was unexpectedly called to his eternal resting place on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the age of 102.

Born in Leonville, Louisiana, he was the youngest of three children born to Mary and Rogers Augustine on June 25, 1919.  After the death of his mother, his father married Celena Henry Augustine.

On January 25, 1942 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana, he married Mathilda "Fannie" Gradnigo and to this union three children were born.  After her death, he married Gustavia Simon.

Junius moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1943 and became a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.  At the church, he was a member of Knights of Peter Claver Council #31 3 rd Degree, Popcorn Committee and volunteered for fundraisers and the yearly Bazaar.

His work life included being a butcher at Perron's Grocery Store and PPG as a Laborer and later as a Truck Driver. He retired from PPG after 33-1/2 years.

In recognition of his 100 th birthday, he received congratulatory greetings from His Holiness Pope Francis, Senator Ronnie Johns, Mayor Nicholas Hunter, State Representative A B Franklin in District No. 34 and Mayor Julius Alsandor of Opelousas, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Rogers Augustine; wives, Mathilda Augustine and Gustavia Augustine; three brothers, Doris Augustine, Curley Augustine and Henry Augustine; six sisters, Lucille Tyler, Cornelina Augustine, Mary Joseph, Eva Kennerson, Lillian Augustine and Maggie Augustine; two sons, Junius Augustine Jr. and Charles Ray Augustine; daughter-in-law, Jean Augustine; and step-daughter, Geralyn Simon.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son Warren Augustine and wife Wanda Augustine of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two granddaughters, Natasha Hubbard of Dallas, Texas and Devon Augustine and her mother Lois Augustine of Los Angeles, California; one grandson, Brandon Augustine of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two great granddaughters, Lauryn Hubbard and Makaylyn Augustine; two great grandsons, Jacolby Hubbard and Junius C. Augustine; special niece/daughter, Barbara Gradnigo Shaffer; one step-daughter, Deborah (Irven) Guillory; two step-sons, Kevin (Gerlyn) Simon and Keith Simon; ten step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
