Obituary

LAKE CHARLES Junius "T-June" Jefferson III, 61, was called home on Saturday, Aug. 10, in a local hospital.

On Sept. 5, 1951, Junius Jefferson III was born to the late Junius Jefferson Jr. and Mary Lee Avery Jefferson. Junius was the only boy with eight sisters. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, La. He was known to many as "T-June" and to his sisters, nieces and nephews as "Junior."

He was a peaceful man. He was a devoted and loving husband to Betty Thomas Jefferson for 40 years and a proud father to four children and grandfather of eight. T-June worked for the City of Lake Charles for 32 years, and after retiring, he continued to work at his small business known as The Lawn Mower Man. He was a 1970 graduate of Washington High School.He attended Grambling State University, where he was a member of the marching band. He traveled to Africa, Japan and Hawaii with the band. He was truly a blessing to all that knew him, a pure joy to be around. He will be deeply missed.

Junius was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary C. Lewis; a grandson, Ronzavion Jefferson; three nephews, Jeffery Frazier, Anthony Latigue and Otis Taylor; and a great-nephew, Junius Clifton Toussand.

Junius Jefferson leaves to cherish his memories his lovely wife, Betty Thomas Jefferson; his four children, Raymond (Cynthia) Berry, of Houston, Texas, Lisa Jefferson, of Baton Rouge, La., Lesley Jefferson and Jessica Jefferson, both of Lake Charles, La.; eight grandchildren, Ronleyijah Richard, Jalen Stewart, Lydia Robinson, Jalen Jefferson, KedrickBerry, Jadous Guillory, Tredarrius Shields and Tyverson Berry; seven sisters, Lava Jean (Anthony) Oliver of Port Arthur, Texas, Betty Jefferson Larce, Patricia Perry, and Sherlyn Jefferson, of Lake Charles, La., Barbara Jefferson, of Beaumont, Texas, Margaret Jefferson and Lillie Mae Shaffer, of Baton Rouge, La. He had four godchildren, Lynn Issac, Paul Rivers Jr., Herman Gamble and Justin Toussand; his uncle, Clifton (Evelyn) Avery; aunt, Josephine Avery Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in Faith Temple Church of God In Christ of Lake Charles, La. (3800 Hodges St.). The Elder Horace Bernard Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park, under the direction of Combre Funeral Home Lake Charles, La. Visitation is from 8 a.m. in the church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in Faith Temple Church of God In Christ of Lake Charles, La. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park, under the direction of Combre Funeral Home Lake Charles, La. Visitation is from 8 a.m. in the church.
