Karen Yvette Charles was born October 16, 1961, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Frank James and Barbara Lewis. She departed this life February 15, 2024.

She was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church by the late Rev. Horace C. Allison. Under the leadership of Rev. Elmore Garner, she celebrated 51 years of membership in October 2023 and was active as a Deaconess and was a former member of the Inspirational Choir.

Karen was joined in matrimony on May 14, 1983, to Donald Charles. She was the mother to three children, Jason James, Xavier Charles, and Ebony Meche.

She attended W.O. Boston High School. Karen was a housewife, making a house a home for her family.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank James and Barbara Lewis and daughter-in-law, Brittany Charles.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of forty years, Donald Charles; two sons, Jason James and Xavier Charles of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one daughter, Ebony (Jonathan) Meche of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two brothers, Brett (Debbie) James and Daune James of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one sister, Sandra Senegal (Curtis) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; six grandsons, Jordan, Zane, Xavier, Jayden, Ian and Zamoree; three granddaughters, Ramynie, Jazlyn and Gianna; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
