Life at a Glance…

Kathryn Howard Norman, 90, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 peacefully at home. She was married 51 years to James Norman who preceded her in death.She was a native of Longville, Louisiana although growing up in neighboring town of DeRidder. She was a retired teacher and school librarian for the Calcasieu Parish School District. She was actively involved in the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association. For years she was a faithful volunteer clerk at St. Patrick's Hospital Gift Shop.

Mrs. Kathryn Norman' s outreach included work with the youth of her church as a Sunday School teacher, organization oand promotion of the church library, membership with the Scholarship Committee and the Women's Auxiliary. She also worked with the food pantry and evangelism ministries. Her final task for the church, at 90 years of age was organizing and coordinating the Fall Prayer Conference.

She lived a long fruitful life and touched many lives along the way. She will be missed by all.

Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, a supportive church family and caring neighbors and friends.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Rev. Garner will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Monday a the church.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.
