Obituary

Kenneth Ray (Ken) Moore Sr. was born July 21, 1945 and entered into eternal rest on August 5, 2024. He was the son of Willie Moore Sr. and Ruth Moore of Iowa, Louisiana. His Christian parents were hard workers, staples of the community and the proud parents of 13 beautiful children. As a young kid Kenneth developed a deep appreciation for people (He never met a stranger), sports (He was an avid Washington, DC sports team fan), and his absolute first love, music. He loved music so much, that after he graduated from High School, he was accepted and attended Grambling State University as a vocal music major. However, his collegiate studies were halted, when in 1966 he was drafted into the United States Army, and was deployed to the Republic of Vietnam to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and moved to Washington, DC.

He moved to Washington, DC where he worked many jobs including serving as a Truant Officer (District of Columbia Public Schools), and as a Logistics Specialist (U.S. Department of Navy and U. S. Census Bureau). Throughout the years, he was often asked to sing in many venues. Ken had a keen interest in collecting men's hats and musical albums. He was an avid Washington Post and Washington Informer reader. Many people enjoyed Ken's long informative talks and nuggets of wisdom.Kenneth Ray Moore Sr. was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
