IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry James
Hebert
December 10, 1950 – September 14, 2018
Brother Larry James Hebert was born on December 10, 1950 to the late Lawrence Hebert and Isabelle Guillory Hebert. To this union were born three children. Shortly after graduating from W. O. Boston High School, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years until he was afforded an Honorable Discharge upon learning his father was terminally ill. Larry attended McNeese State University and during that time became one of the founding members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. In 1978, he married Maudell Sims Hebert. To this union were born three children: Leatrice Hebert of Lake Charles, La., Laurence Hebert of Baton Rouge, La., and Leland Hebert of Maui, Hawaii.
In 1992, Larry married Donna Watkins Hebert (who preceded him in death in 2016) and to this union were born two children: Joshua Hebert and Victoria Hebert both of Lake Charles, La. Larry gained one stepson, Carlos (Tori) Harris of Houston, TX (son of Donna Hebert.) He leaves to mourn his death, his children, grand-children: Elliot Jasmine, Darrien Hebert, Leila Hebert, Nikolas Harris, and Makhenzy Harris, his brothers: Lawrence Herbert of Palo Alto, Calif., Louis (Barbara) Hebert of Lake Charles, La., and one sister, Julie (Anthony) Guidry of Lake Charles, La., sister-in-law, Diane Watkins and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and former co-workers.
Brother Larry will be remembered by all as a "quiet and gentle man", a man of great wisdom and peaceful counsel. He simply had a way with words. If you found yourself going through a storm in life, Larry had the propensity to speak encouraging words from the Lord to you (often using his hands and "Larry-like" gestures to get his thoughts across)! He had a servant's heart and was willing to help anyone in need. Brother Larry was employed at PPG Industries for 40 years as a Plant Operator, later becoming a Lead Operator, and retiring in 2014 as a Plant Operator Supervisor. His passion for music was a gift. Larry picked up a guitar and played music by ear until later he learned how to read music. You would often see him gently smiling playing for the Lord and as such, touching the lives of many musicians, ministers, and people from all walks of life. Larry played for many years at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, United Christian Fellowship, and numerous other churches. He leaves a legacy of talented and gifted children who are musically inclined and who were all introduced to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On September 14, 2018, God called Larry home . Brother Larry will be missed by all, but never forgotten!!!
