Latricia Hope Mayo, affectionately known as "Hope," entered this world on June 19, 1976, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as the ninth and last child of Gilbert and Shirley Mayo. Born prematurely at just 1 pound and 11 ounces, her early arrival marked the beginning of a remarkable journey.
Hope received her education at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School and graduated from Washington-Marion Magnet High School in 1994. She furthered her studies, earning her degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2004. Hope worked as an auditor at Evangeline Downs Casino until her retirement. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to helping others, exemplifying a true spirit of giving. Even during her illness, she continued to give selflessly, and upon her passing on July 27, 2024, she ensured her legacy of generosity by becoming a tissue donor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Shirley Mayo, as well as her siblings Linda Gail Mayo, Adrian Christopher Mayo, Gilbert Vernon Mayo Jr., and Dianne Marie Mayo, and her nephew Marcus Wayne Mayo.

Hope leaves behind cherished memories with her two loving sisters, Deborah Garriet (Larry Hawkins) and Constance Mayo of Lake Charles, LA; her brothers, Dr. William Mayo and Patrick Mayo, also of Lake Charles, LA; her cousin Charles Tyler of Opelousas, LA; her honorary sisters, Mathilda Rigmaiden and Belinda Mathews of Lake Charles, LA; and honorary parents Latrice and Andrew Reder of Lake Charles. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and longstanding family friends.

In remembrance of Hope's life, her family and friends gather to celebrate her legacy of resilience, love, and unwavering strength. Her spirit will be forever present, and her memory will always be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
