Obituary

Laura Ann Adams Guillory, 60, passed away surrounded by her granddaughters in the comfort of her home on Monday, February 28, 2022. Laura was born on April 16, 1961, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Her parents Gertrude and Chester Adams raised her in Mamou, Louisiana, and she graduated from Vidrine High School in 1979. She went on to attend LSUE in Eunice where she earned an associate's degree. Following her graduation she went to work for Wal-Mart where she worked while raising her children, Crystal, Shane, and Cassidy. She worked at Xspedius Communications for several years before becoming a Security Supervisor at the Isle of Capri Casino where she was still employed.

Laura was a beautiful soul who was a mother to many. She was loving and nurturing to her family and friends, but she could be stern in the most affectionate manner. To know her was to love her, and she made a lasting impression on all who met her. She imparted her wisdom and strength to her children and grandchildren, and her legacy of love will live on through them.

Laura enjoyed sports and in particular softball. She played for the Lady Sonics Traveling Softball Adult League. During her time playing with the Lady Sonics, she met and fell in love with Floyd Guillory, Jr. She and Floyd married in 1992, and she gained her bonus daughter Crystal Yvonne.

Laura loved sports, and she spent many years refereeing basketball and umpiring baseball and softball games. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Debbie and best friends Sandra and Marie. She also enjoyed gardening and watching foreign movies. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was very involved in raising them.

Laura is survived by her daughters Crystal Chretien (Piris Guillory) of Lake Charles, La, Cassidy Chretien-Edgerson (Kyle) of Arlington, Texas, and Crystal Yvonne Guillory of Houston, Texas; one son Joseph Shane Chretien of Lake Charles, Louisiana; one sister Debbie Ambrose of Lake Charles; and four brothers, Vincent "Sonny" Ceasar and Julius Ceasar of Mamou, La., John "Ricky" Ceasar of Lake Charles, La., and Ronald Ceasar of New Orleans, La.; eight grandchildren, Dylan, Anaiya, Trinity, Jasmine, Alaya, Claire, Scarlett, and Laura Ann; and two great-grandchildren June and Carter.

Laura is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Guillory, Jr., her parents Gertrude and Chester Adams, her grandparents Pearl and Duffy Fontenot, and her niece Jeri Kendall Ceasar-Richard.
