Lawrence Chavis was born August 29, 1926, to Joe and Carrie Higgins Chavis in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He

departed his life to be with the Lord on Friday, March 16,2018, in Stockton, California. Lawrence lived most of his

life in San Francisco and Stockton California. He was married to Shirley Chavis for the past twenty five years as

a faithful and loving husband.

Lawrence Chavis served in the United States Navy on the USS Fargo and served in World War II where he received

numerous awards and was honorably discharged. He worked as a merchant Seaman for many years and retired.

He was a lovin g and caring individual l oved fishing and hunting.

He preceded in death his parents, Joe Chavis and Carrie Higgins Chavis, his wife Shirley Johnson, Chavis, his sister's
Eva Bell Guillory Chavis, Lily Chavis Ryan, brother's Sidney Chavis, Carlton Chavis, and Norris Chavis.

He leaves his only daughter Stella Chavis, grandson's, Marvin Chavis, Christion Dominique, grandchildren,
Kaden, Kaylah, Micah, and Kayla; niece's Carrie Guillory Peery, Marie Guillory Mosley, Adele Chavis, Dorothy
Chavis, Judy Chavis, and host of wonderful great nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends.
