Obituary

Bro. Lawrence Isaac, "Mr. Ike", was born September 29, 1929, to the late Josephine
Thomas and Alvin Isaac in Chatagnier, Louisiana. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at an early age.

He was united in holy matrimony to the late Ruth Mae Davis Isaac on February 19, 1949, and now they are united again with their master.

He was employed at Citgo Petroleum for 43 years and retired February 1992 as an
Insulator.

Bro. Isaac joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church in 1953 under the leadership of the late
Rev. D.J. Jones. He was a faithful member and dedicated to his calling as one of the finest Ushers this side of heaven for sixty-nine years, working alongside with the late Sis. Gloria Wallace with the Junior Ushers. He served under the late Rev. H.C. Allison, Rev. R.L. Owens and presently, Rev. Elmore Garner. He made sure that they took care of themselves after preaching and if they had to travel, he prepared a snack bag for them with water, juice, towels, and clothes. He would also travel and if he couldn't go, he would make sure someone else was there.

Presently, he was the Chief Head Usher for the Usher Ministry, ushering for every AM
and PM service held at the church. He sat outside waiting for the speaker to arrive and showed them where to go; again, he loved taking care of pastors.

Bro, Isaac loved his family, enjoyed playing dominoes, watching cowboy movies, the Andy Griffith Show, the Three Stooges, WWE Wrestling, and faithfully attended football and basketball games at the high schools. Many times he spoke his Creole language and his mother would call him "Beth."

He was a hard worker, cutting and edging his grass two to three times a week and he made sure his truck and car was spotless. He loved cooking his favorite food of red beans and rice, gumbo, and stew. He never allowed his family to go hungry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Mae "Marie" Isaac; son, Mickeal Isaac;
brothers, Clarence Isaac and Calvin Isaac; sisters, Gladys Riley and Helen Thomas; and son-in-law, Frank Wesley.

Cherishing his memories are his devoted son, Joseph Lawrence Isaac of Fresno, Texas;
three loving daughters, Gilda Wesley and Pamela (Joe) Mayne of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Marjorie "Dee" (Dennis) Beale of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, David Isaac and Alvin Isaac of Crosby, Texas; daughter-in-law, Jocelyn Isaac of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three brothers-in-law, Allen Davis of Lafayette, Louisiana, Murphy Landry of New York and Calvin Riley of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Kevin Isaac, Michael Lynn (Keturah) Isaac, Tina (Chris) Stills, Troy Lewis, Devan (Kristina) Isaac, Felisia Profit, Demetria Jackson and Gregory Jackson; eight great grandchildren, Laila Marie, Christopher Lance, Taylor, Kenadi, Jada Marie, Amanda, Dakota, and Landen Avery; one great-great grandchild, Tyler; his extended family, the "Daniel Girls" and their children, Kathy, Jeannie, Carolyn, Herman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He will be truly missed by all who loved and cherished him; he was the Patriarch of our
family and others
