Obituary

Lawrence John Milton was born on July 5, 1945 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Florence and Youla Landry Milton. He grew up in Vinton and attended Vinton Negro High. After high school, he joined the service and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. His bravery in the Vietnam War earned him a Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Defense Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He toured Hawaii, Japan, Vietnam, Okinawa, Philippines, and California. After his honorable discharge in 1967, he returned home and began working at Gulf States Utilities in Orange, Texas. In 1978 he began a new career with Union 76 where he continued until he retired with UnoCal 76 Oil in 2000. After retirement, he spent his days fishing, cooking and spending time with family.
Lawrence passed away on October 17, 2017 at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his son, Reginald L. Milton, parents, Florence and Youla Milton, two sisters, Leona St. Julien and Elaine M. Milton, three brothers, Joseph L. Milton, James E. Milton, and Peter R. Milton.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife of 33 years, Blanche M. Milton, two sons, Reynaldo L. Milton (Mary) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lawrence J. Milton, Jr. (Heather) of Vinton, Louisiana, and one daughter, Kimberly Steve (John). Eleven grandchildren, one special grandson Akeem that was near and dear to his heart, Daryen, Gevonte', Lexa, Briana, Reynaldo Jr., Ja'Myia, Paris, Troy, CJ, and Elijah. Three great grandchildren, Amari, Ayanna, and Aubrey. Four sisters, Clayona Pillette, Eola Chavis both of Orange, Texas, Mary L. Guidry and Emma Broussard both of Vinton, Louisiana, sister-in-laws, Ruby Milton of Vinton, Louisiana, and Veronica Milton of Sulphur, Louisiana. Mother-in-law, TrueHeart Taylor of Vinton, Louisiana, sister-in-laws, Kay Wyatt (David), Samantha Norwood (Robert) and one brother-in-law Craig Steve (Denita). Also, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
