Leon "Lee" Hampton was born November 9th, 1922 in Athens, Louisiana to the late Ira and Johnnie Essie Wilson Hampton. He was the fourth child of their seventeen children. On the evening of June 10th, 2016 he departed his earthly life to join his bride and our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ in eternal life. He was preceded in death by his beloved bride of 63 years, Essie S. Hampton, six brothers, and four sisters.
He united in the faith of Jesus Christ at an early age at Springville United Baptist Church in Gibsland, Louisiana.
He was a Foreman for the Greater Lake Charles Water Company for over 30 years.
His life was full with his love of his Church, Reeves CME Temple as a Steward, Member of the Adult and Men''s Chorus while also caring for the Church grounds in retirement.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ; his only son, Leo Hampton, Daughter in-law Debbie, four grandchildren, Leon II, Justin, Bryan, and Elyse as well as six great-grandchildren. His memory will also live on in his remaining siblings, Irma Barnes, Lorene Toussand, Lois Hunter, Willie Hampton, and Marvin Hampton along with a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: June 18, 2016
Visitation will be Saturday June 18, 2016 from 9am to 11am at Reeves CME church. Funeral service will be Saturday June 18, 2016 at 11am at ReevesCME Church. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
