Leonard Jones was born May 30th, 1951, to Hayward and Hattie Lee (Valley) Jones in Pineville, LA. He was the oldest of eight children. He was nicknamed "Pop" by his family, and he loved being a supporting brother to his siblings. He had a giving heart, was humble and would give anyone his very last.

On Tuesday afternoon, January 30th, 2024, Leonard peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his family.

In 1969 Hayward and Hattie moved the family from Houston, TX to Westlake, LA (Mossville Community). Leonard "Pop" attended and was a 1971 graduate of Westlake High School, Westlake, LA.

He married the love of his life, Bernadine Singleton on March 18th, 1972. They were blessed with a son, Darrin Bernard Jones.

Leonard was employed at Hercules which later became Lyondell Bassell where he worked as a service mechanic. His co-workers called him "Ice Water" and after 44 ½ years of service he retired.

He was an Honorary member of the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff Department. He enjoyed watching the Saints football games, working in his yard and working biblical puzzles.

He joined St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ezekiel Joubert and now Rev. Elliot Ford. He served as a Deacon, previously served on the Usher Board and with the Brotherhood. He was an active member of his church until his health failed but would listen to the online service.

He was preceded in death by his son, Darrin Jones; his parents, Hayward and Hattie Jones; and one sister, Annette Darlene Miller.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-one years, Bernadine Singleton Jones; one grandson, Dawaine Frelot of Sulphur, Louisiana; two great granddaughters both of Sulphur, Louisiana; and one great grandson of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three brothers Hayward (Brenda) Jones, Jr., Jimmy (Deborah) Jones, and Michael Jones all of Lake Charles, Louisiana. three sisters Hattie Young of Ville Platte, Louisiana; Dianne (Rev. Rodney) Mitchell; and Joyce Jones all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and a host of aunts, uncles, godchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and his church family.
